OpenAI’s DevDay announcements

OpenAI has done it again.

During their first ever developer’s conference called DevDay, they announced some game-changing new models, enhancements and ChatGPT features worth while noting.

Here is a breakdown for you:

GPTs – Your Customisable ChatGPT

• This has been by far the most popular announcement from DevDay.

• Whether it's about enhancing customer support, generating creative content, or providing specialized advice, all ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise users can now easily create personalised ChatGPT with your own data and for your own purpose.

Key features:

• No coding required – simply set it up by having a chat with ChatGPT, it handles the rest

•  Upload your own data and documents to tailor the GPT’s knowledge base

• You can choose to activate browsing, Code Interpreter and DALL-E 3 to give it extra superpowers.

• You can add “Actions” which allow you to integrate applications like Zapier, giving you endless possibilities like integrating your email, calendar, Slack and much more.

• You can keep the GPTs you create for your use only, share them via link or create another income stream by selling them in the OpenAI Store.

Any downsides?

• You can only upload up to 20 documents of up to 512 MB each to your knowledge base

• To harness the full power of adding “actions” to your GPT, you probably need coding experience

•  OpenAI Store hasn’t been launched yet, so get building until you can cash in on your GPTs

GPT-4 Turbo – Bigger and Cheaper

• Imagine AI understanding lengthy documents with ease. GPT-4 Turbo does just that, with its colossal 128k token context window (which is the equivalent of a 300-page book).

• GPT-4 Turbo is not only smarter but also up to three times cheaper, making it accessible to more developers.

Updated GPT-3.5 Turbo

• In addition to GPT-4 Turbo, they a new version of GPT-3.5 Turbo that supports a 16K context window by default (which is roughly a 25-page document).

OpenAI Shield

• OpenAI announced that it would cover legal costs for businesses using the features of OpenAI’s developer platform and ChatGPT Enterprise facing copyright infringement lawsuits.

• This will definitely provide an extra layer of security for those businesses wanting to integrate AI in their day-to-day operations.
